Rhododendrons En Plein Air

Painted en plein air from life in my New Jersey garden, this painting was inspired by the ever changing outdoor light that revealed the amazing design and depth of the rhododendron.  The variety of greens and purples, two of my favorite colors, captured my interest along with the shapes and intricate design of the growing, blooming, flowering shrub.  Living in New Jersey, rhododendrons are in abundance during springtime.  I strived to capture this living, breathing flower with a sense of truth and admiration.
