Studio 7 Fine Art Gallery, located at 5 Morristown Rd in Bernardsville, NJ, is hosting a summer exhibition featuring 12 of my recent oil paintings on copper. They will be on view through August 27, 2016. Open Wed.- Sat. 10:00 – 4:00 PM or call for appointment (908) 963-0365.
Collectors always ask me, “Why do you paint on copper?” Last night at the opening reception, I wasn’t disappointed…. I was happy to share my inspiration! An old master technique I learned while studying at the New York Academy of Art, painting on copper allows for a luminosity not achievable on other surfaces. I love how the copper and oil work together to make my work glow with life. It’s the essence of what I explore in each work of art on copper. When a collector gets excited about the copper glowing through the many layers of paint, they always question how I did that…. Patience, passion, and a lot of hard work… then I get inspired and run back to the studio to create some more!
