“Sand Dunes” Sells at LLS Auction Fundraiser

My painting “Sand Dunes”, oil painting on linen, sold at the LLS (Leukemia & Lymphoma Society) Auction last week as one of the highest selling paintings to raise near $100K total for the team, and overall campaign of $1,122,404!!!!  Every year I donate my art for a worthy cause.  When asked this year to join the team, I knew this was a great cause to dedicate my art.  “Sand Dunes” is a tribute to both my mother-in-law & father-in-law who both succumbed to their brave battles with cancer.  The NJ shore was their favorite place to spend quality time with family and friends enjoying the sand & sea.  I painted “Sand Dunes” en plein air, which means out in the open air at Island Beach State Park.  When painting from life out in the open air, I could witness first hand the blowing grasses in the wind, the crashing sound of the waves, and the heat of the morning sunlight.  The seaside has the power to inspire and to rejuvenate.  I hope my painting captures a sense of that healing energy.  Cancer has no doubt affected our family.  My hope is that with my painting, I too may contribute to a cancer free world.
